The Signs of Spring: Bikers

Columbia, Missouri had a gorgeous sunny day today, and I noticed that tons of bikers were out.  Now, I have a bike and I ride it occasionally, but for those that do it on a regular basis around campus; I just have a few issues.

Number 1:  They come at you from nowhere with no forewarning hoping that by some miracle they will not run into anything or anyone... Oh wait they don't hope that.  The person walking is praying they don't get hit and the drivers are hoping not to hit one of the bikers.

Number 2:  They think they own the sidewalk.  There literally is a road 2 feet away that they could ride on because frankly there isn't enough room on the sidewalk, especially when you have the people walking in groups.

I would just like an explanation as to why I am always being attacked on the sidewalk, the sidewalk that I am supposed to be walking on.  I just don't get it...

Now no worries, I did not forget about the bikers that hog the road.  I know from personal experience that Rock Quarry Road is a great little road to go riding down, but don't you think it is a little dangerous?  Cars come cruising around the turns and then all of a sudden they are slamming on their brakes because there is a bike in front of them or a car in the wrong lane due to a biker.  What is wrong with you bikers?  Are you trying to get yourselves killed?  There are so many trails around Columbia.  Go pick a nice trail, enjoy the scenery, and please stay off the dangerous roads.
